We offer a range of IT courses for University staff, students and academics.
I want to develop my IT skills
Our IT Learning Centre (ITLC) delivers a full range of classroom-based IT and information skills courses. We also offer online video courses via lynda.com. Our lunchtime sessions, online resources and some courses are free; there is a charge for other courses. Courses are available to all University members.
Classroom-based courses: you can discover these by browsing our online course booking system which allows you to book or cancel a taught course and to manage your notifications. You will need your Single Sign-On to use this.
Our classroom-based courses are usually delivered at our Banbury Road offices. The teaching rooms are on the ground floor, which has ramped access and toilets that are accessible to wheelchair users. The rooms have height-adjustable tables and seating, and a hearing loop. If you have a disability and are attending a course, please let us know in advance if you need to discuss how we can help.
Course notes can be provided in large print or as electronic text. You can request these when booking your course.
We can arrange closed courses for groups within the University – staff or students – which can be organised at a time to suit you.
Online courses: the catalogue includes a selection of some of the lynda.com online courses. You can discover the full range using the search features within lynda.com. Our ITLC Portfolio contains lynda.com playlists carefully curated by the ITLC teachers together with other self-study materials.
I want to learn at my own pace
lynda.com is a huge resource of online, video-based courses that University members can access at any time for free. We also offer self-service learning resources through the ITLC Portfolio of online course material.
I need training in University business systems
If you work on University business systems such as DARS, Oracle Financials and HRIS, you will need training. You will normally need authorisation from your manager to book these courses and will need to complete a User Access Form, which will be sent to you when you book.
This training is usually delivered at our Banbury Road offices.
I work in IT Support
We arrange training and events specifically for IT Support Staff (ITSS) around the University. Details of these, along with other resources for ITSS, are available on the IT Support Staff Services section of this website.
