Digital futures: The future of data in higher education

Our Digital Futures at Oxford series of thought leadership sessions continues in 2022. At our fourth session we hear from Jisc's chief innovation officer for data analytics, Dr Phil Richards and Dr Victoria Moody, who discuss how data standards are developing across government, and their impact on higher education.

This thought provoking talk about the data journey from the early days of the spreadsheet, to new ways of bringing the analysis of 'big' unstructured data to the masses, explores how better learning analytics can be used to improve the student lifecycle and open doors to better opportunities for research. Phil and Victoria also discuss the difficult ethical challenges associated with the management of data in universities, and they pose challenging questions to the role that professional services should adopt to face those challenges.

For those unable to attend the session, a recording of Phil's talk is available for you to watch (requires SSO). You can find information about this series and future events on our innovation page, or the IT news and events page.
