Need help with your new SharePoint Online site?

SharePoint Online (SPO) went live at Oxford in November 2020. Since then, 78 departments, colleges and other parts of the University have started to use this new resource. Most of these are well into the planning stage for their new SharePoint Online presence and many have begun making new sites and moving content over.

Get help setting up your SharePoint Online presence

IT Services have employed a SharePoint Online specialist, Priya Nair, for the whole of 2021 to provide support and advice for anyone setting up their SharePoint Online presence. We strongly encourage you to make use of her time while she is in post.

Priya is available to discuss:

  • planning and site architecture strategy
  • content migration approach
  • help with workflow/power automate
  • SPO technical advice.

You can book a session with Priya using this SharePoint Online consultation and support booking form.

Meeting Solution for SharePoint Online

We will be launching two versions of a Meeting Solution in SharePoint Online (available from 19 April 2021):

  1. Basic Meeting Site, which provides the functionality for a meeting with documents
  2. Committee Meeting Site, which provides functionality for meetings, with documentation and security levels to manage who can access what content

You can easily request a Meeting Solution through the OSM self-service catalogue. For more information, please see the Meeting Solution for SharePoint Online page on the IT Help website.

When SharePoint on-premise goes out of support

SharePoint on-premise will not be switched off until April 2023, however, we strongly encourage you to review your content well before this deadline. You might decide that content should be:

  1. Moved to SharePoint Online
  2. Deleted entirely
  3. Archived in a platform other than SharePoint

More information and guidance for considering your move to SharePoint Online can be found in our launch article (published in November 2020).

Help and support

As well as requesting a consultation with Priya Nair, there are Quick Reference Guides and online training available on the SharePoint Online help and guidance page on our IT Help website.

As SharePoint Online has been provided 'out-of the-box' from Microsoft, with very little customisation, you should also be able to make use of external websites for support.
