Director of Programme and Project Delivery Group

The Director, Programme and Project Delivery Group role will provide vision and leadership in shaping and delivering IT-related projects and programmes across the collegiate University. The Director will oversee the planning and implementation of new IT systems and infrastructure in support of University operations aligned with University strategy and in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality and business process development.

The Director will be responsible for managing the Programme and Project Delivery Group, a community of project managers, business analysts and trainers, around 60 staff in total plus freelance contract project staff.

Essential selection criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Significant experience in managing programmes and projects, preferably with public/higher education sector experience within a complex devolved environment
  • Recent experience of managing and/or directing an IT operation
  • Significant experience of working in the IT industry
  • Experience of systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to delivery of new services
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles, with certification in MSP or PRINCE2 (or equivalent)
  • Proven leadership ability including the ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

  • Strong negotiating skills
