Media Editor

The Media Editor reports to the Educational Media Manager. Educational Media Services is responsible for the production of digital video programs and CD-ROMs from their initial concept to the final product, filming and providing technical support for University events throughout the year, and assisting various colleges, departments and external bodies with advice and support for digital sound and video editing with regard to the WWW and the team’s own websites.

Essential selection criteria

  • Knowledge of post-production editing
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • Knowledge of Apple Macintosh computers, digital editing, sound editing and image creation software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and to show a pleasant 'can-do' manner and attitude to staff and students at all levels of the University
  • Education to degree level or equivalent
  • The skills and knowledge to give expert advice on media production
  • Significant experience in managing media production as part of a busy work environment
  • Up-to-date hands-on experience of media production techniques, computer troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Proven editing skills using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, Media 100 or similar
  • AV production skills and expert technical knowledge of audio and video recording equipment

Desirable selection criteria

  • Knowledge of the higher education sector
  • Experience of operating video conferencing systems
  • Experience of Apple Macintosh hardware and operating systems, especially OSX
  • Experience of using content management systems
  • The use of online job-tracking and user administration systems
