Major enhancements to the University’s website and Oxford-wide intranet

The main University website (www.ox.ac.uk) has launched in a redeveloped form, with new functionality and content showcasing the University to global audiences.

The Oxford-wide intranet OxIntranet has also been developed, with additional content, as well as a new AI agent to help staff and students find the information they need.

A range of University-wide content has migrated to these platforms as part of the Transforming Oxford’s Digital Communications Programme, marking a significant step forward in streamlining Oxford’s content.

www.ox.ac.uk now live with redeveloped site

The University’s main public-facing website at www.ox.ac.uk brings together central, University-wide content including key services and information in one place.

It acts as a shop window for the University and is often the first point of contact for a wide range of audiences, from prospective staff and students and the general public to current University members.

The redevelopment improves how this content is structured and presented, with clearer navigation, more accessible design and a more unified look and feel across pages.

The new site is built on a more robust and sustainable technical platform, making it a sustainable way for content to be maintained over time.

We welcome your feedback on the new site. Please use the “Was this page useful?” form available on each webpage, or email webmaster@ox.ac.uk.

OxIntranet developments

OxIntranet continues to develop as the University’s first Oxford-wide intranet, bringing together the information needed to work and study in a single, secure platform.

An experimental AI agent has now been launched on the site. The agent searches for content across OxIntranet, as well as key University websites, and shares the results in 'chat' form,  offering a helpful way of finding advice and guidance to support work and study.

An enhanced search system has also been added throughout the site, making it easier to find the content you need; and a range of additional content has been published for staff, including learning and development, travel and communications.

As more content is migrated, the intranet will become the primary place to find the information used day-to-day across the University, rather than the open web.

Support for using and navigating OxIntranet can be found on the Help & Support site

OxIntranet is open to all staff and students, although the current focus is on University-wide content for staff. Students may start to notice links to OxIntranet - particularly if their college or department migrates - and may wish to try out the OxIntranet Agent to find useful information.

For now, the best places to find student content are the Oxford Students site or MyOxford. Any wider changes to student content are not expected until Summer 2027, and more information will follow in due course.

Support for using and navigating OxIntranet can be found on the Help & Support site.

Content migrated to the new platforms

Content from a number of central services has now migrated to the new platforms.

In line with the University’s content strategy, information for external audiences is available on the public-facing website, while content for staff and students can be found on OxIntranet.

New external content includes jobs, childcare, apprenticeships, and the University Gazette; while internal content for staff includes learning and development, travel and communications.

If you maintain links to the following content on websites, systems, documents or bookmarks, they should be updated to ensure users are directed to the correct new pages:

More content will migrate from other central services during this academic year in line with the UAS Migration project.
