At the start of June, content from our IT Services websites will be going live on the University’s new digital communications platforms and existing sites will be decommissioned at the same time or shortly afterwards.
What to expect
Redirects will be in place for 12 months, to direct people using current links to the relevant places, and a list of key links for colleagues to update will also be shared.
Content from the IT Help site, in particular, has been migrated like-for-like as far as possible, to provide a smooth user experience. You will still be able to use search engines on the open web to look for IT support and find the information you need via the University’s main website, Oxweb.
What’s moving where?
The majority of IT Services content is moving to the For Staff > IT & Digital area of OxIntranet, making it easier for staff to find information about our services in one place, supported by clear navigation, advanced search features with AI integration.
We will also have a presence on Oxweb - particularly where content needs to be in the public domain (for critical IT help and support with getting started at Oxford, for example) or where services are available to external users (as with some of our Digital Capabilities courses). This content will be developed over time to include more information about Oxford’s IT and digital strategy and provision.
Additional IT and digital content
There is already an IT and Digital presence for students in the Oxford Life area of Oxweb, and the Student Digital Skills Hub will also be hosted there from June. Going forward, students will be directed to OxIntranet for additional IT support content.
Further sites will be migrating to the For Staff > IT & Digital area of OxIntranet during June and July, including the Digital Governance Unit (DGU) SharePoint site, Information Security site, the User Experience (UX) Centre of Excellence, the Information & Communications Technology Forum (ICTF), and the Interactive Data Network (IDN) site managed by research computing specialists in IT Services.
Content from the Staff Gateway will also be migrating into IT and Digital sections of OxIntranet and Oxweb over the summer, including information about the University’s digital transformation.
Why are we moving?
These changes are part of the Transforming Oxford's Digital Communications Programme which is consolidating internal communications content from many different websites into the OxIntranet hub on SharePoint and refreshing the content shared with the wider world on Oxweb.
This programme is delivering platforms which prioritise security, scalability and accessibility, and adhere to the principles of simplicity and clarity. The University's new digital content strategy aims to ensure that everyone can find the information they need, access online services, and keep up to date on what's happening across the University to support our academic mission.
